The
EPA's development of the MACT standard is in its final stages.
This action proposes National Emission Standards
for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP)
for FRP and boat manufacturing facilities.
When
finalized these regulations will require most composites manufacturers
to adopt what EPA has determined is Maximum Achievable
Control Technology. For most fabricators, MACT
will be comprised of pollution prevention technologies such as low-HAP
resins and gel coats and changes to spray guns, etc. Larger companies
may be required to install capture and oxidation controls.
