Troubleshooting Guide

Problem Description Remedy
Orange Peel Over catalyzation, incorrect air pressure and material flow, material not properly thinned, material too cold, film not thick enough for flow out. Check equipment and follow proper procedure.
Fish Eyes Contamination with oil, grease, silicone, or dirt. Static electricity. Clean surface and/or wipe with fabric softener.
Pinholes Over catalyzation, too much thinner, gun to close to part. Check equipment and follow proper procedure
Running and Sagging Gun too close to part, excess thinner, film thickness more than 6-8 mils, not enough atomizing air, did not use mist coats. Check all gun settings and catalyzation.
Bubbles and Blisters Improperly prepared substrate, coating applied too thick. Examine surface carefully before spraying, spray test parts before attempting to spray production material.
Checking and Flaking Improperly prepared substrate, coating applied too thick. Examine surface carefully before spraying, spray test parts before attempting to spray production material.
Soft Film Under catalyzation, solvent entrapment, cold material, extreme over catalyzation. Follow recommended procedures for applying Fourgard and Fourseal coatings.
