87-95 Plastilease 512B
87X65 Plastilease 512CL

Product Description

87-95 Plastilease 512B is a water/alcohol solution of polyvinyl alcohol resins (PVA). It is used to release polyester resins, especially where wax or silicone contamination of the part is to be avoided. The film it produces serves as insurance against part hang-up, particularly for newly fabricated molds. During the break-in period (usually 2 to 3 production cycles) Plastilease 512B provides good release until the exothermic reaction forces the wax to fill microscopic mold pores. Plastilease 512B is a deep green color for visibility against the mold.

87X65 Plastilease 512CL, identical to 512B, is a colorless formula for use when a clear solution is desired.

Application

Both 87-95 and 87X65 can be applied by spraying or brushing. Spray application is preferred. It will flow out readily over wax or silicone without fish-eyeing. Over-spraying or multiple coats are not necessary.

Should slight laminate hang-up or sticking occur, warm water may be worked into the interface of the mold and the part. The water will re-dissolve the PVA film and float the stubborn part free. Plastic, wood and other porous molds should be dried well and sealed with 96-91 Mold Sealer 306 before application of the Plastilease product.
