5790 Series Pigment Dispersion

Product Description

Valspar Pigment Dispersions
are made with the highest quality pigment in a vehicle that is excellent for use with polyesters and urethanes, and is also compatible in many cases with vinyls and epoxies. The pigment dispersions are low in viscosity and smooth, blending evenly when stirred into liquid resins. Opacity is obtained at a pigment level of 3% to 5% depending on part thickness.

Works well in continuous casting equipment.

Typical Physical Characteristics (All Tests at 77º F.)

Weight Per Gallon:

8.0 - 16.0 pounds
Tint Strength:
100% ± 2%
Hegman Grind:
One year from date of shipment
VOC: Zero
Flash Point: > 300° F.

Application

For polyester resins: Mix pigment dispersion into a small amount of resin before adding to the main portion of resin - prior to adding the catalyst. The resins can be colored and stored for use at a later date, when only the catalyst needs to be added.

For epoxies: Make compatibility tests to assess the pigment's suitability due to differences in types of resins and hardeners. Limit pigment level to 2%.

For vinyls and urethanes: Test the desired color concentration before use. In a urethane system, disperse the pigment in the resin phase.
